“Thank you very much for your support about Free Tablet for my children. They are very happy now because they have their own tablet for school work.” Mr Mohammad S

“Oscar loves his new tablet – he is now able to go to his room and do his homework without being annoyed by his little brother. This has really helped him to finish his homework every week. When I am working, he takes it to his grandma’s house and can do his homework there – thank you!” Naomi R

“Lataya does not need to go to homework club every week to do her homework and this means that it is much calmer at home because she does not get worried about not finishing her homework. It has helped me as well because I can see what homework her teachers have set and I couldn’t before.” Sarah M

“Finnley was trying to do his homework on my phone, and this used a lot of my data. Having the tablet and internet has made him happy because he does not have to go to homework club or tell his teacher that he couldn’t do his homework that week. Having his own tablet and going on the internet has made him want to do his homework every week with no arguing.”

3. Supporting Families Through Digital Inclusion: Our Work with Burnley Training College during Covid 19.

During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, staying connected became more critical than ever — especially for vulnerable families facing isolation and limited access to technology. In partnership with Burnley Training College, we launched a community initiative to supply free digital devices and data packages to those most in need. This collaboration helped bridge the digital divide, ensuring that children could continue their education remotely and adults could access vital services and support networks.

Our joint efforts focused on identifying families who were struggling without internet access or devices at home. By distributing tablets, laptops, and mobile data, we enabled households to stay in touch with schools, healthcare providers, and loved ones. The initiative also included basic digital skills training, empowering recipients to use their new tools confidently and safely. This not only improved educational outcomes but also reduced feelings of isolation and anxiety during an uncertain time.

The success of this project highlighted the power of community partnerships in times of crisis. Working with Burnley Training College allowed us to reach families quickly and effectively, offering practical solutions that made a real difference.

4. Strengthening Wellbeing Through Partnership: Supporting Adore Homecare

We were proud to support Adore Homecare, a CQC-registered provider, in their mission to help adults stay connected and improve their wellbeing. During a time when isolation was a growing concern, especially for vulnerable individuals, our collaboration focused on providing digital devices and communication tools that enabled service users to maintain contact with loved ones, access online services, and engage with their communities.

Together with Adore Homecare, we identified individuals who were most at risk of loneliness and digital exclusion. By supplying tablets, offering basic digital training, and facilitating virtual social sessions, we helped bridge the gap between care and connection. These efforts not only enhanced emotional wellbeing but also empowered users to explore new interests and maintain independence in their daily lives.

This partnership demonstrated the power of community-driven support in transforming lives. By combining Adore Homecare’s compassionate care with our digital inclusion efforts, we created a model of holistic wellbeing that continues to inspire.

5. Digital Empowerment in Education: Partnering with Local Primary Schools

Our collaboration with local primary schools has been instrumental in increasing digital skills among children and families, helping to reduce social exclusion and promote equal access to learning.

We provided in person training and free devices and tailored digital training, we’ve enabled students to engage more confidently with technology both in the classroom and at home. This initiative ensures that no child is left behind due to lack of access, and that every family has the opportunity to thrive in a connected world.

Through workshops, hands-on support, and ongoing guidance, we’ve helped parents and carers build their own digital confidence alongside their children. This dual approach strengthens family bonds and creates a shared learning experience, while also opening doors to online resources, communication platforms, and essential services. The result is a more inclusive school community where everyone feels empowered to participate and grow.

By working together with educators, we’ve seen firsthand how digital inclusion can transform lives. Children are more engaged, families feel supported, and the wider community benefits from increased connectivity and opportunity.

6. Expanding Opportunity Through Childcare: Our Partnership with The Butterfly Crèche

We’re proud to have partnered with The Butterfly Crèche, an Ofsted-registered nursery, to provide vital childcare support to families in need. By offering additional hours beyond government-funded childcare, we’ve helped ensure that children from economically challenged backgrounds can access consistent, high-quality early education. This initiative has removed a significant barrier to development, giving children the chance to thrive in a nurturing environment that supports their learning, social skills, and emotional wellbeing.

Our collaboration has also had a powerful impact on parents, many of whom struggle to balance employment with limited childcare options. By extending access to The Butterfly Crèche’s services, we’ve enabled more parents to remain in work, pursue training, and contribute to their household income without sacrificing their children’s care. This support has been especially meaningful in deprived areas, where childcare costs often prevent families from achieving stability and progress.

Together, we’ve created a model that promotes both child development and family empowerment. The Butterfly Crèche’s dedication to inclusive, compassionate care aligns perfectly with our mission to reduce inequality and build stronger communities.

Feedback:

“I got offered a new job, but when I did the maths it meant I worked for childcare, now I can work, save a build a family future, thank you to you and the creche” Samina M

7. Celebrating Connection: Social Events for Vulnerable Adults

We’ve been proud to host inclusive social events for vulnerable adults in our community, creating joyful spaces where people of all ages — including participants from our dementia café — can come together.

These gatherings are designed to combat isolation, foster friendships, and promote wellbeing through shared experiences. With attendees ranging from young adults to those at 100 years old, the events have become a vibrant celebration of life, resilience, and community spirit.

Music, dance, and laughter are at the heart of these occasions. Whether it’s a singalong to classic tunes, gentle movement sessions, or simply enjoying a cup of tea with friends, each moment is crafted to uplift and engage. For those living with dementia, these events offer a safe and stimulating environment where they can connect with others, reminisce, and feel valued. The joy on participants’ faces speaks volumes about the power of togetherness.

These social events remind us that age and circumstance should never be barriers to joy or connection. By creating spaces where everyone feels welcome and supported, we’re helping to build a more compassionate and inclusive community.

Families said “ I have never laughed and cried so much, heartfelt thank you and grandma danced with me” Amanda P

8. Growing Minds: Gardening Schemes That Teach Photosynthesis

Our partnership with local people who have allotments has blossomed into an inspiring educational initiative that helps children understand the science of photosynthesis through hands-on experience. By creating interactive gardening schemes, we’ve turned outdoor spaces into living classrooms where young learners can explore how plants grow, absorb sunlight, and convert energy — all while getting their hands dirty and having fun.

Through planting, nurturing, and observing their own gardens, children begin to grasp the photosynthesis equation in a tangible way. They learn how sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide work together to produce oxygen and glucose, and they see the results in the vibrant plants they’ve helped grow. This approach not only reinforces scientific concepts but also sparks curiosity and a deeper appreciation for nature.

These gardening schemes do more than teach biology — they cultivate responsibility, teamwork, and environmental awareness. Watching children light up as they recite the photosynthesis equation or proudly show off their plants is a reminder of how powerful experiential learning can be.

As Sir David Attenborough once said, “People are not going to care about something they’ve never experienced.” Through gardening, we’re helping children experience science in full bloom.

9. Active Together: Empowering Women and Children Through Fitness

Our community project with local gyms has focused on creating inclusive fitness programs where women and children can work out together, fostering healthier lifestyles and stronger family bonds. These sessions are designed to be fun, accessible, and supportive — encouraging physical activity as a shared experience that builds confidence and wellbeing across generations. By making fitness a family affair, we’re helping to instill lifelong habits that promote vitality and resilience.

The initiative goes beyond exercise; it’s about education and empowerment. Participants learn about the benefits of regular movement, balanced nutrition, and mental wellness, all of which contribute to increased lifespan and reduced risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and obesity.

For many women, especially those from underserved communities, these programs offer a safe space to prioritize their health while setting a positive example for their children. We use women owned, women run gyms wherever possible.

By working together in the gym, women and children are not only improving their physical health but also strengthening emotional connections and community ties. The energy and joy in these sessions reflect the power of collective action.

Families say “I feel safe training with my own community, in my own clothes, no one looks at me funny, thank you”

10. Driving Opportunity: Supporting Asian Men with Language Skills for Employment

We’ve been working closely with local communities to support Asian men who aspire to become taxi drivers, helping them overcome language barriers that often stand in the way of employment. Through targeted English language support, we’re enabling individuals to build the communication skills needed to pass licensing requirements, engage confidently with passengers, and navigate the professional landscape of transport services.

Our language programs are tailored to real-world scenarios, focusing on practical vocabulary, customer service phrases, and the terminology used in taxi licensing and road safety. These sessions not only improve fluency but also boost self-esteem and job readiness.

Many participants have shared how this support has opened doors to new opportunities, allowing them to pursue stable careers and provide for their families.

This initiative is about more than just employment — it’s about empowerment, inclusion, and dignity. By helping individuals gain the skills they need to succeed, we’re fostering stronger, more connected communities.

Feedback: “ I can now feel proud I can support my family and make them feel proud” Mohammed S

11. Unlocking Potential: English Language Support for Asian Women

We’ve been working with local partners to support Asian women in accessing English language classes that open doors to further education and personal growth. These classes are designed to build confidence in speaking, reading, and writing English, helping women overcome language barriers that often limit their opportunities.

By improving their communication skills, participants are better equipped to pursue college courses, vocational training, and other pathways to independence.

Beyond academic goals, the program emphasizes the development of language as a social tool. Women engage in group discussions, role-play scenarios, and community-based activities that encourage interaction and connection. This not only strengthens their language skills but also helps reduce isolation, build friendships, and foster a sense of belonging. Many participants have shared how these classes have transformed their daily lives — from navigating public services to supporting their children’s education.

This initiative is about empowerment through education. By investing in language skills, we’re helping women unlock their potential and take active roles in their communities.

12. Serving Up Connection: Family Tennis Sessions for Women

During school holiday periods, our local tennis club has become a vibrant hub where women and their families come together to stay active, bond, and enjoy quality time through weekly tennis sessions. These gatherings offer more than just physical exercise — they create a space for mothers, daughters, and extended family members to connect, laugh, and learn together. The relaxed, inclusive atmosphere encourages participation from all skill levels, making it a joyful experience for seasoned players and beginners alike.
The sessions are designed to promote both fitness and family unity. Women often bring their children along, turning tennis into a shared activity that strengthens relationships and builds healthy habits. Playing side by side fosters teamwork, communication, and mutual encouragement, while also giving children a positive role model in their active, engaged parents. It’s a refreshing way to spend time together, away from screens and routines, in a setting that’s both energizing and supportive.
These weekly meetups have quickly become a highlight of the school holidays, offering a sense of community and continuity. Women leave feeling empowered, children leave feeling inspired, and families grow closer through the simple joy of play.

Feedback : ” I can’t believe I actually beat my daughter in a game!”

13. Stronger Together: Family Boot Camp with Local Gyms

During school holiday periods, we partnered with local gyms to deliver Family Boot Camp sessions that brought parents and children together in a fun, active environment. These outdoor sessions focused on building fitness, teamwork, and family connection through a variety of boot camp-style activities such as circuit training, resistance exercises, tug-of-war, and obstacle challenges. Families worked in pairs, encouraging each other and celebrating progress as a team.

To ensure inclusivity, onsite childcare was provided for younger children who were not old enough to participate. This allowed parents to fully engage in the sessions while knowing their little ones were safe and cared for nearby. The program created a supportive atmosphere where families could focus on their health, strengthen relationships, and enjoy quality time together away from screens and daily routines.

Due to high demand, the Family Boot Camp now operates with a waiting list during holiday periods. The popularity of the sessions reflects their impact — helping families adopt healthier lifestyles, reduce the risk of lifestyle-related diseases, and build lasting memories.

As the saying goes, “The family that trains together, stays together.”
